{ 5 Simple Rules for Starting a Visual Journal }
Published by Shai | Filed under Journals, Diaries and Notebooks
1) Planning each visual journal entry is a good idea. However, don’t get stuck with it. Sometimes, part of the fun is just going with the flow.
2) Collect lots of clippings and small knick-knacks, even when you’re not thinking of coming up with a journal entry just yet. If something strikes you as interesting, collect it. You’ll be glad to have all these when it’s time to start visual journalling.
3) Have one place for all your clippings and knick-knacks. You don’t want to be hunting around for them when inspiration strikes.
4) Combine paints, magazine cut-outs and 3D objects. Often, the “layering” can make your entries more interesting.
5) While these are little rules to consider, in the act of visual journalling itself: Remember that there are no rules! Just let yourself go and create.
